History

Damilano is one of Barolo's historic wineries with traditions that go back more than a century. In fact, the Damilano family's activity dates back to 1890 when Giuseppe Borgogno, great-grandfather of the current owners, began cultivating and vinifying the grapes he owned in the town of Barolo - the Langhe village that gave its name to the wine of the same name, a beautiful and generous land that for centuries has shown its vocation for producing "the king of wines". However, it was with the next generation, with Giacomo Damilano, the founder's son-in-law, that the winery took on its current name.

People

Since 1997, the winery has been run by Guido, Mario and Paolo Damilano, the founder's grandsons, who have been able to give new vigour and impetus to the family business, enhancing in particular the Langhe's main grape variety, Nebbiolo.

Vineyards

The winery boasts properties in the Cannubi, Brunate, Cerequio and Liste crus. Particularly noteworthy is Cerequio, a beautiful amphitheatre of vines facing almost entirely south, which enjoys a particularly happy climate, protected from the cold winds coming from the north by the high hills of La Morra. It is a deep soil that favours the production of structured, tannic and very complex wines.

Wines

Their wine production favours red wines. The secret of the high quality of Damilano wines lies in the grapes and the vineyards, which the company runs with the same care, skill and respect as the founders, all combined with contemporary wisdom.
