History

What does Ghëddo mean?
Ghëddo is one of the most beautiful word in the Piedmontese dialect. Ghëddo is an initiative, but also the vivacity with which it is carried forward, is inspiration and stubbornness: it is the desire to do. If you have it you can't hide it, it's irrepressible and you can read it on your face; when you see someone who has the ghëddo you understand it immediately. To have the ghëddo is to possess a soul that exudes authentic and elegant enthusiasm. From the first days when the two guys fro this cellar started chewing this word, learned by working in the vineyard with old glories of the Langhe, they immediately felt it. It was 2014 and the project had already been born for a year, all that was missing was something that defined it. Ghëddo, indeed. With this they do not want to say that they are better and brighter than others, rather it means that they like to chase their dreams, even when it costs effort. They are a young company, so they have no long heraldry or perilous stories to appeal to, except that of this territory, which they respect and value.

People

The two guys from Ghëddo are Giovanni, born in 1985 and Mattia, born in 1984. Giovanni is the winemaker, and he has worked around the world (France, Australia and Chile) before moving to the Langhe area; while Mattia takes care of the commercial and administrative part of the company.

Vineyards

The guys from Gheddo cultivate about three hectares of vineyards, this allows to give each plant unique care and attention and to know their land and its potential. There are three principles that guide their work: respecting the ecosystem of the vineyard, producing good wine, having fun while doing it.

Wines

Their wines faithfully reflect the vintage in all its aspects, starting with a meticulous work in the vineyard to reach extreme cleanliness in the cellar, a characteristic that we are also looking for in the glass: a clearcut wine. It is a source of pride for them to be able to take care of every detail personally: from pruning to handcrafted bottle boxes produced with recycled wood. But let's let the fruit of their work speak for them, so the attention shifts to wines!
